Godly Sorrow Worketh Repentance to Salvation

Whoso offereth the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. Ps 50:23. My soul waits in silence for God alone; from Him comes my salvation. Ps 62:1

Salvation and repentance are important to us all. The saving grace of God is abundant to everyone; and to the sinner, believe in Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Acts 16:31.

We can pass through sufferings, tribulations and afflictions, and yet emerge victorious through Christ. The sorrow thereof can lead us to repentance and salvation.

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 2 Cor 7:10

Repentance is turning our hearts away from evil to good, while salvation is the act of saving a sinner from sin and its evil penalty. In many places in the Word, God has promised to show us his salvation, so that we can shine as lights in the midst of a perverse world.

Whoso offereth the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. Ps 50:23. My soul waits in silence for God alone; from Him comes my salvation. Ps 62:1

Salvation belongs to our God and from him comes our salvation. Salvation is in no other one except in Jesus Christ, (Acts 4:12). On the otherhand, repentance is needed for us not to perish: and it makes us not to face the punishment of God.

Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Luke 13:2-3. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Rev 2:5.

Repentance in the midst of affliction and the salvation of the Lord – it happened at a time that I was afflicted. The sickness only got worse at night. I was taking medication according to prescription but the illness worsened. Medical laboratories could not find what was the cause. On a particular night while the sickness was acute, with my soul troubled and perplexed of sudden destruction, I cried unto the Lord about repentance from a sin that beset me. Immediately, I repented of that sin, the power of God came upon me and set me free. The Lord showed me his salvation and made the evil tide to cease, and the sickening object that blocked my throat, and caused great pain was miraculously destroyed.
